This toner refill kit needs the “hole maker”, which has to be bought separately and can be reused over and over again.
Cartridge chip is found in some cartridges these days. The major function of a cartridge chip among other things is to control the number of pages that the cartridge can print. Obviously this never happen perfectly since the real number of pages that a given cartridge can provide will vary, among other things, on the necessary toner to print such pages. If your print pages require more toner to be printed (graphics), your cartridge will provide fewer pages than if you print only letters with a few paragraphs.
If your cartridge chip tells you that your cartridge can not print anymore, this is not necessarily true; however your printer will display the information provided by the chip.
When is the right time to buy an empty toner cartridge? You should buy an empty toner cartridge when you original cartridge is not printing right anymore due to the end of its lifetime, showing lines, dots and blank lines not due to lack of toner, but wear and tear of the drum and wiper blade (major components of the toner cartridges). The other reason to buy our empty toner cartridge (original manufacturer empty cartridge never refilled or remanufactured before, which is cleaned, tested and has already the hole and plug) is to have an extra cartridge that can be used at any time, saving you a lot of money if you compare to the prices of the new one from the original manufacturer.
